APPOINTMENT OF NEW GENERAL SECRETARY

Acting General Secretary of the SACC


The National Executive Committee of the South African Council of Churches, meeting on 11 April 2001, appointed the Rev Dr Molefe Tsele as the General Secretary of the SACC.

Dr Tsele is a Lutheran Minister and a graduate of UNISA and the School of Theology at Chicago. He served as Executive Director of ESSET (Ecumenical Service for Socio-Economic Transformation) from 1996 to 2001 and was previously a lecturer at the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Mapumulo, and a parish minister in Soweto.

Dr Tsele will assume office in mid May 2001.
